He is gentle, warm, kind, smiling and wonderfully round. All children enjoy his joy and generosity. He has a good thick belly, so there is a little resistance when he has to go down the chimney, otherwise he falls too fast and makes too much noise.
Height: 22.5cm.
In connection with Etly Klarborg's 35th anniversary in 2021, the designer has launched two new icons. While one is Etly Klarborg's own interpretation of an old acquaintance, the other icon reflects the person who has been the source of inspiration for the designer's life's work – a popular and nostalgic universe of gnomes and other cute creatures that have brought joy and life to Danish homes for 35 years.
Santa Claus is an important character. For many, perhaps even the most important, when it comes to the biggest holiday of the year. He is kind and generous, round and soft, and he is a unifying force for both gnomes and children all over the world. A character who strengthens our faith, spreads magic and encourages presence in the family.
Etly Klarborg has created Santa Claus in the image we know him, but there is still something about the expression in the figure that tells a story. Etly Klarborg's interpretation of Santa Claus is inspired by a person she knows. A man who takes on the guise of Santa Claus himself and who, for four Sundays in Advent, is a familiar face at the Gnome House in Moseby in North Jutland, a part of Etly Klarborg's gnome universe.
– He has the most beautiful, gentle face and can bring Christmas lights to the children's eyes, so they shine long after. I can hardly describe how much I delight when I, on an Advent Sunday, witness the magic at the Gnome House, where the children stand with gaping faces while he tells stories from the North Pole, says Etly Klarborg
