Marcus is kind, cheerful, and as strong as a horse. He easily carries the Christmas tree home with one hand in his pocket while whistling "High from the Tree's Green Top."

Maiken is dear and sweet, has a talent for the decorative and pretty, she loves to make Christmas decorations with ornaments and spruce, which she collects in the forest. The scent of spruce belongs to Christmas.
